Heather S. Friedman Rivera, Ph.D., was born in Los Angeles, California in 1963. She writes fiction and non-fiction for adults and adventure stories for young readers. She is the author of nineteen books, an Amazon best-selling author, and a contributing author in seven additional volumes. Her work has appeared in magazines, and she has been featured in print, radio, and web television. She also enjoys visiting schools and libraries to talk with students about storytelling, imagination, and the creative process.
Dr. Rivera is a retired clinical hypnotherapist who specialized in past life regression and a retired registered nurse. She also holds J.D. and Ph.D. degrees. She trained under Dr. Brian Weiss at The Weiss Institute and earned a creative writing certificate from Wesleyan University.
When she’s not writing, she enjoys hiking with her husband near their cottage in the Hawaiian jungle and caring for their two cats and three guinea pigs. She is deaf and has cochlear implants — her superpower is bionic hearing.
